Students of FHS attend 3 weeks of daily marching band camp, 3 afterschool rehearsals, 5 performances at home football games, 1-2 pep bands at away games, 5 regional marching competitions, 4 Parades (typically Memorial Day, Independence Day, Homecoming, Halloween). They have placed at the James Madison University Parade of Champions, received straight Superior ratings in every caption at VBODA State Marching Band Assessment, along with improved scores in those captions, earned or tied for first place in the music caption at multiple VMBC Competitive Events, and had 11 students participate in the D11 All-District Band, with 4 qualifying to audition for All-State. Celebrating over 50 tears of entertaining Fairfax, the City of Fairfax Band stimulates, promotes, and develops interest in musical environments, educating the general public and advancing national culture through their performances.
